In the Beginning

We have the Annual Sand Sculpting Festival on the beach this weekend and the sand is ready! Competitors get 12 tons each to work with and building begins in earnest on Thursday. Meanwhile, the sponsors centerpiece is well underway. There seems to be a baseball theme this year - could they be building a model of Fenway Park?

Anyway, I hope that I'll be able to show you some of the sculptures that rise like phoenixes from these piles of sand as the week progresses.
