Tasty Read
This past weekend I combined two passions into one activity, reading a great book about cooking! In The Soul of a Chef: The Journey Toward Perfection , Michael Ruhlman identifies the essence of a chef, what makes him or her different from most people and what separates the good from the great. This fascinating book, published about 12 years ago, satisfied my hunger to know more about food, the secrets of successful chefs, and at what point cooking becomes an art form.
"...these chefs had stated that a main reason, if not the reason, they cooked was that simple: to make people happy. If they failed in this, the work was for nothing. Didn't matter how good the technique was, how artful the food, or the personal standards they'd brought to bear on it." ~ Michael Ruhlman
