Independance day

Today is Independence Day in Sri Lanka. Hotel staff marked the occasion by raising the national flag to the national anthem. Most hotel guests respectfully stood. It was also marked by convoys of young men on motorbikes using their horns to great effect.

We came out from underneath the palm trees for a delightful tuk tuk tour. It started in a garden which even the driver found hard to find with the road taking us through very rural Sri Lanka. We found a flower with the same colours as the flag so that had to be the blip.
