Catch of the day.
A lovely day spent at RSPB Fairburn Ings.
Surprising how warm it felt in the sunshine, but out of it still felt cold.
We did see a variety of birds, but this was my thrill of the day.
We saw a local fisherman land this pike!
Not a very good shot, as he was about to put it straight back in the lake, before I got my camera ready.
We didn't see the kingfisher, but mMrC saw a water rail, which are very ilusive birds.
The water levels were still high, and it was dreadful to see all the damage the floods had done.
A lot of the board walks had been washed away, as well as some of the viewing areas.
Also many trees broken down.
You could see the debris left behind in the trees and hedges. Must have been more than 5 foot high.
It will be interesting to see how nature copes with all this damage.
There were already daffodils coming up.
A few more photos in Extras.
