An early bird
Up at a really daft time to join a safari through Yala national park. We were not the only ones and we started off in a queue to get in. Entry is restricted to a limited number of vehicles each day.
It was an incredible experience. Lots of peacocks, some of which were dancing in front of their potential mates - I suppose a form of dad dancing. Water buffalo, jackals scampering across the plain, deer, crocodiles and, of course, elephants who seemed totally unfazed by the crowd of land rovers around them.
The bird life was fabulous and we didn't know the names of most of them. Including this one.
