Beautiful, Cold and Windy
We skied (x-country) up to Jaktstugan. It is 3,75 km from the car to the cabin which isn’t so far but in that distance we moved from pine and fir forest, up through dwarf birch forest and up to the treeline. You can see here the trees are very small!
Once we reached the cabin it was time for the “traditional” waffle with cloudberry jam and cream, and hot chocolate, also with cream! They do sell a few other things but most people choose the waffles. In the kitchen they had 6 traditional waffle irons going with one woman running the whole production line!
There’s no electricity or running water at the cabin, which must make the logistics interesting, especially when the high season gets going in mid-February.
In the picture you can see Jan setting off for home. It had got a lot more windy while we eating and there was definitely a slight “Scott of the Antartic” feeling as we started off down.
There is a group of 8 photos from this day set up as a flickr group here, if you are interested.
This is really a backblip - today's photo is here.
