Old and new
Sometimes - but not very often, it sometimes seems - Edinburgh's planning committee gets it right. Or perhaps it is that developing awkward sites with strange footprints means the builders and architects have an interesting challenge that brings out the best in them.
The work on Advocate's Close has turned out well. Fitting in without doing so slavishly, and bring life back to a major route between the High St and Waverley. Commuting lawyers and Council employees had to be fit!

Or New Waverley.
Or The Old Royal High School.
Or the Walnut Whip at the new St James Sq development.
Or the ongoing muddle on Granton Waterfront.
