Polo on ice

On the frozen lake of St Moritz there is an annual competition of Snow Polo. In the afternoon we went along to watch. Lots of action, lots of time-out and some great commentating punctuated with a bit of rock music. There are frequent changes of horses, which are stabled in marquees nearby. When looking at the skill and athleticism of the horses and the strain on them, it is no wonder they have to change so frequently. One horse and rider came down, the skidoo zoomed on, the rider was checked over, but fortunately no change there and the Reds (Cartier) won to make it to the final. See extras for a bit more action.
