Turdus Times Two
I went for a walk at Holyfield Farm. I was about to go into Longlands Hide to see if I could spot the little lesser spotted woodpecker that has been seen when an escorted group of London naturalists filed into it.
Not wanting to jostle I headed for the farm viewpoint. I stopped by an empty cattle feeder and watched chiff chaffs, pied and grey wagtails, robins and dunnocks gleaning. I got shots of a red kite and a buzzard as they flew overhead. A mixed flock of geese, a flock of jackdaws and plenty of gulls were on the meadow. The London group caught up with me and spotted stonechats too.
I've pictured two members of the thrush family. A redwing on the left and a fieldfare on the right. The fieldfare is known as the snow thrush in the north. Both birds are associated with cold winter weather.
As I was leaving I met two people flying their Harris hawks.
