Jurassic Ammonite

I resolved to try a bit harder with a photo today, so got my super macro lens out again, this time attaching the Macro Ringlite for flash.

This image of the suture lines dividing the septa of a Jurassic ammonite from Saudi Arabia is not, admittedly, very inspiring, but you can still see sand grains from the desert sand in which it was found.

I still needed to use quite a high ISO and longer shutter speed to get the shot. The flash was not that powerful.

Another walk around Nanpantan Reservoir with Basil late this afternoon. There was a single fisherman which was why the gate was ajar. 

I saw the pair of grebes. Too early for courtship today, but I expect things to hot up in the next couple of weeks.
