The red peak on the reading from King's Buildings indicates a gust of 40 m/second (approx 89.5 mph), which is probably the one that woke me up this morning, tore off a ridge tile and turned over the garden seat and birdtable, as Storm Gertrude came to town.

Compared with other parts of the country we have little to worry about and our thoughts are with those who have had extensive damage and have no power.
