A bit of a contrast
In the wettest patch of woodland at the nature reserve we are being treated to a wonderful show of Snowdrops and Scarlet Elf-cups. They rarely appear right alongside each other, but when they do the differences in form, colour and nature are quite striking - the pure white flowers with delicate green markings, held aloft of the mud and leaf litter; and the vivid red, fleshy fungus relishing life amongst moss on the dark, dank, slimy ground. Even in the depths of winter there is splendid diversity to be experienced.
