Breakey Blips

Forrest caves, Philip Island

We went for a walk to find a suitable launching place for our kayaks. We didn't find one, but instead found a remarkable beach of fine sand, rocky outcrops, huge surf, caves only accessible at low tide and curious soft rock.
The sift rock was ancient volcanic ash that, in its different shades from cream to dark red purple, t provided different colours of ochre for the kids to use as face paint.

I took too many photos, but Mr Breakey scrambling over the rocks with his eldest was my favourite.
A few days later, we ate at a cafe on the cliff above this beach. The tide was in and it was mind boggling to imagine that we had stood on this rock, for the surf was pounding over it.
