Snap..

..shopping trip today to Tain. It's 80 miles each way, and we called into the Blytheswood charity store at Alness. On the way out, and onto the A9, saw this view of the rigs in the cromarty firth. They're laid up for now while the oil prices are low. A lot of oil workers have been laid of, and with disastrous consequences. The suicide rate in Aberdeen is sky high, workers with large mortgages and loans. Only wish our government had been wise with the North sea oli monies and set up an oil fund like Norway did, rather than frittering it away.. While there is still some oil left, Scotland, as an independent nation, has chance to still make some use of it. I know prices are low at the moment, but the oil fund could have bolstered the industry for a while..

Enough politics..

The 80 mile journey has 40 miles to Lairg on single track road. We met 5 vehicles on the way there, and 2 on the way back. That's 7 vehicles in 80 miles, and none came up behind us to overtake either.. It's a lot better than driving on the M25!!

When I got home, I see my blip-neighbour, Croftcrafts, nearly has the identical picture!!..
