Happy Australia Day
The cliche is prawns on the bbq, but I've never been to a bbq where they've cooked prawns. Maybe I'm just in the wrong part of town. It's always sausages, steak or chops!
Plenty of utes with Aussie flags today. I took a few photos but a teen bombed the shot with a rude gesture. We had a brief conversation about that and he relented with a less obnoxious pose in my next shot. Still, he doesn't deserve a blip. That might be his Australia but it's not mine.
The advertising leading up to this Australia Day has been interesting. The flag and our sporting colours (green and gold) have been ditched for a more inclusive idea- celebrate Australia Day Your Way- all cultural diversity intended. After Stan Grant's confronting and substantiated assertion that the Australian Dream is founded on racism, an inclusive message is a positive one.
