Migrant in Moscow

Last weeks of snow

Last snow maybe for a while or maybe for the rest of winter?  The forecast is for much warmer temperatures arriving tomorrow and continuing for the next two weeks.  Consequently, much of Moscow's heavy layer of snow is likely to melt and disappear.  Including this layer on the Church of the Transfiguration on the Sands in Arbat.  The church has witnessed snowfalls for over 300 years since the original stone structure was built in 1711 - on a sandy field and hence the name.  I've blipped it a few times; it always offers new light, a different perspective, and today attracted me because of the lighting in the bell tower, an unusual occurrence.  The church was immortalised in Vasily Polenov's "A Yard in Moscow" which he painted in 1879.
