Line-Caught.
Another bluebird day when we woke up this morning, so M and I decided to go on another walk to one of the island's viewpoints. We chose Kåda, but unfortunately what the map didn't show was how the road was really just a dusty, treacherous track that was very steep! I enjoyed some beautiful views from the passenger seat, but I think M must have missed most of them concentrating on his driving! There was nowhere to park, and we couldn't see a path, so we admitted defeat and headed home.
We could see the sea was fairly calm, so M and I decided to take our wee boat all the way from Rasvåg to Flekkefjord. After a few moments of confusion (the map had made the route look simple - mainly by omitting all the smaller islands!) we spotted the harbour in the distance. The trip was really good fun and not half as bumpy as I was expecting! There are some beautiful cabins here, accessible only by water, clinging to the steepest cliffs seemingly by a thread.
When we arrived at Flekkefjord we moored our boat and wandered to the shops for a food shop (still expensive but less so than the island) and then had lunch at the same pub as we'd been to with M's Mum and Dad, two years ago, on my first ever trip to Norway. We refuelled the boat at a waterside petrol station and then motored back to the summerhouse, stopping periodically to fish along the way. It was another lovely journey back, and we were passed by two cargo vessels heading west - possibly to Aberdeen.
We had a beautiful dinner prepared by M - my line-caught cod with chilli, garlic, lemon juice, fresh thyme and butter - cooked on an engangsgrill. Before we knew it, it was 9.00pm and time for one more hour's fishing in the sun before heading home for a cuddle on the soda and a nice gin and tonic.
