Harris Hawk

   Tonights bird is a Harris Hawk.  These are smaller birds that hunt in pairs.  You can see the piece of meat being eaten by this bird for a positive reward.  You can also see the wire transmitter on the bird.  The gray lure is a piece of carpet rolled up that is dragged on a rope so the bird knows it is prey.  The handler whistles, the birds dive and kill their prey.  You can see one bird mantling over the lure, while the other walks up to feed.  Attached to the lure is a piece of chicken they share.  You can also see the flexibility of the birds necks as they can rotate nearly 180 over their bodies.
