A Road Trip
The start of a very long 18 hours.
On Thursday morning I was offered the opportunity to attend the Summer Winery Tour at Gibbston Valley, near Queenstown, with my sister and her family. It seemed like a great idea so on Friday night I drove to Christchurch.
Then at 4 a.m. Saturday morning we set out on the drive to Queenstown – 6 hours away.
This is my sister and her two children on a ‘nature’ stops, at Lake Pukaki. Mount Cook was shrouded as so often happens, so I thought I’d fill the gap with them.
We made it to Gibbston Valley slightly after our planned 10 a.m. arrival (more nature and photo stops than we’d planned for). Got parked and were ready with the 15,000 other people when the gates opened at 11.
What a wonderful day for a group of old rockers – and the younger generation who can appreciate ‘old’ rock. Great line-up: Melissa Etheridge (who was my highlight of the day), REO Speedwagon and Huey Lewis and the News.
Then at 6.30, when the concert finished, we began our trip back to Christchurch.
Such a lot of fun with a great group of people.
