A bit of brightness

Things to do in Manchester this morning.

It no doubt has a commercial objective, in part at least, but all the chinese lanterns that have been put up - just about everywhere it seemed - certainly brighten up the city centre. Celebrations of the Year of the Monkey commence February 4th. Will they hire Johnny Vegas ?

I took loads of photos. I need to get more to grips with my DSLR, as I only use two settings in the main, and so (new year resolution) am doing the on-line course that others are following. This weeks is about aperture mode and using the extreme f stops, so I was experimenting. An example in the extra. I know this is basic stuff for many, for me it is definitely learning mode.
