Hallowed Ground

St Werburg's old church at Warburton.
It is a redundant church in the care of the Church trust, and for me. a real oasis from the madness that is modern day life.
I have visited this place since I was a child, collected hazel nuts and conkers from around the church yard. Sat inside at midnight waiting to be scared to death, hooted at owls which hooted back. Searched for the oldest grave stone (so far 1625). Marvelled at the Dinosaur footprints (yes, really!)
My Mum and Dad are buried here, and I visit them from time to time.
Yesterday it was my Dad's birthday, but I was too ill to visit.
These days the church is locked up, but opened on some days (and Sundays) and anyone can borrow a key, details at the gateway
The walk this morning did me some good, both bodily and spiritually, although, even after 14 years, I still leave their grave side with a heavy heart,
