The Phoenix Rises

A Remarkable view

We left Auckland by air on an early flight to Queenstown.
Unfortunately the weather had other ideas. The captain tried to land twice, but had to pull up both times, which left us no option, but to fly to Dunedin to land.
After a four hour bus ride,  with a driver called Hitler , who cares. We were "not allowed food on the bus" so we didn't... only coffee, pie and cake. Well we didn't actually eat, just drink. We weren't too happy, but then again neither was he.

After we arrived at the airport and collected the Juicy 8 seater mobile, we checked into Lomond Lodge. Dinner was Ferg burger delicious, but if you go, go hungry. They are immense.
Alasdair, Margie and Diane climbed the near vertical Queenstown hill and basked in the basket at the top. We being lesser mortals accompanied by the injured, ( sprained ankle) Catriona, strolled along the bay and round the park. The huge redwoods, pines and ponds were gorgeous and we even tried to hug one, but we hardly managed a fraction of it's circumference .  We watched briefly as two couples had a Tango session in the park bandstand. I was mesmerized, but Ally was not. I am a frustrated and far too old to learn, Dancer.

A toast and cheese supper we crashed out for the night.

As aye
