Blurred vision
While waiting for Flash & Angie to get on their feet, I opened today's Week 3 email for the photography course. We were told to move the button from Automatic to Aperture and then the 10% who didn't give up and throw their cameras in the corner, should sit down and drink a cup of coffee or two.
Twiddled with knobs and from the warmth of the sitting room took the bird table in my sights are tried all the "f" numbers I could find. Not a blur to be seen.
Grabbing Luna and camera we set off for a long walk in which she had to keep sitting in various poses. At first puzzled, she eventually gave up after 90 minutes of this any lay down.
In the meantime Angie had gone to the vet. The bite wounds are very heavily infected and he has a high fever. Basically if he doesn't get better within 48 hours, then ............ Pumped with more jabs, Flash and a very tearful Angie returned home.
Rotten rest of the day. Late afternoon one of the wounds or better said teeth marks as there had never been any blood seen, suddenly opened up and lots of yellow/red fluid started coming out. After a couple of hours Angie phoned the vet who confirmed that was a positive sign. So lots of kitchen paper and sitting on the floor. Later at around 9:00pm after going out for a quick turn in the garden to lift a leg, he came in and the wound started to pour out more of the liquid. Got concerned and phoned the duty vet at the large practice in Memmingen we use for the horses and any major work - they did Flash's spleen & tumour operation in 2014 - and have a 24/7 service. The vet said the same as our "small animal" vet - stay brave and keep mopping up, it was a good thing.
Eventually it slowed up and Flash and I had a reasonable night in the sitting room. I did manage in the evening to make my first batch of Golden Turmeric Paste which was much easier than expected. Did phone daughter Kate in Ireland to check that I shouldn't give Flash any while he was on medication - if anything it's likely to increase the effect. I did however take the opportunity of having yellow coloured pans and utensils to make a turmeric dish and Flash seemed to enjoy a few licks of left overs. Much too early to give any feedback on the turmeric but there have been a few surprisingly positive things - how much is chance ....? Watch this space.
