What's with this recent trend for matt black paintwork on cars?

I say cars but it's more specifically Range Rovers, Porsches and BMWs with the occasional home-hotted Fiesta or whatever.

So, presumably a stealth-bomber look props up a fragile ego even more than the ownership of a wasteful gas-guzzler.

Perhaps we could improve the environment by cutting out the cars and painting the owners matt black..
