Old is better?

Every time I visit this school I think it'll be the last time. Glasgow has a programme of new builds for secondary schools - these are much-needed. Old, rundown, cold and damp Victorian buildings are replaced with easy-to-heat fit for purpose buildings ideally suited to educate our young people.

But...

...goodness me the old buildings have character!

Look at the size of this catering manager's office. And look at the light getting in. It's the same throughout the kitchen as the extra photos show. The light that shines into this kitchen is amazing. It would be a wonderful and cheery place to work - and look at the old marble bench! This was used for pastry production as pastry is best kept cold. 

This place is just magical.
