JUST STRINGING ALONG

Woke up to rather a lot of snow this morning.

A bit of excitement in the afternoon when we spotted this bird in the garden. Out came the books and we checked the photos, then when I managed to get a picture of it we emailed it to a knowledgeable friend. But no, it wasn't a rare thrush, just a rather rufous female blackbird.

Though even he got a bit excited when he saw the photo, so we didn't feel totally stupid.
