Water Rail

A normal ride in to work today. A bit of ice on some side roads that had not been gritted. Ice skates not required. Busy morning.

A quick walk down to Inverleith Park and the pond. I discovered what people have been looking at. A Water Rail making a winter visit to the Wet Garden. This is be best shot of four I took before it disappeared in to the vegetation. I couldn't see it at all after that. No wonder people spend their time looking for it.

OK ride home. Spits and spots of rain, cold, patches of frosty ice and dark. Most of the snow has gone, apart from on the hills, the tops were shrouded in cloud. Cycling in January.
