School days

This is where I went to secondary school - 1st year of Comprehensive Education.  The ground floor classroom was my first form room aged 11 - with form teacher Mr (Bob) Brown (English/Drama).  The rooms around were all science block rooms  - Mr Hall and Mr Rothery for Physics, Mr Milburn and Miss Denison for Biology and Dr Hewitt for Chemistry.

The schooling didn't do me as much harm in the long term as it seemed at the time and I'm sure all the teachers tried their best - Their faces are all still in the memory but there are not many happy times that spring to mind. Looking back I was lost in a big school of hundreds/thousands of others.  I think it did matter that I wasn't local but the big problem is I didn't really want to learn all of the things they wanted to teach me. I was certainly not academic and should never have stayed on for A levels - I should have left got a job - grown up quicker and then returned to education.  Which I did in the end but took a very long time to get there :-)

The school buildings are coming to the end of their life in a few years they will all be gone - the new school developments are on another site.

So I may take some photos of the old school one day.
