Year of Promise

Another day of dental reconstruction, painless this time as all that happened was the handing over of my "Opalescence" whitening kit...maybe a future Blip?

I spent some time walking the streets of Carlisle. I think I shall know this city very well by the time my treatment is finished. The city motto is "Be Just and Fear Not" (see extra).

I was fascinated by this bench in Tullie House garden. It turns out that in 2000, ITV had a huge campaign where people were invited to make public promises about good things they would do in the new millennium. For £25, you could have your promise inscribed upon a special "Promise Site" of which there were 75 in the UK. Here is one of them.
The documentary photographer in me sees a project here...it would be interesting to hunt down these folk and see if they did keep their promises, and if so, what difference it has made to their lives.

I noticed that in Waterstones today there was a whole table of books devoted to "New Year, New You" type books. Diets, exercise, decluttering...

Here's my New Year advice:

Be Just and Fear Not.

Now I'm off to the Fairtrade meeting
