Blenheim

Everything looked so beautiful this morning. Minus four, frosty and sunny and gorgeous!
After dropping the Little Misses off I came home for half an hour's laundry sorting, folding, hanging and putting away before heading over to pick up Mrs C for an outing to Blenheim.
What a perfect day for it! It looked spectacular - blue sky, not a breath of wind, sunshine, sparkly lakes, frosty grass. Stunning!
We had planned to walk round the smaller lake, down to the cascades but it turns out you can only get that way through the palace and it's still closed. We set off to climb through some bushes and trees, around the lake shore and back up to the path. Then we thought better of it and set off on the path round the other lake.
Turned out to be a good decision as half an hour later we heard loads of shooting coming from the other side of the lake so presumably they were shooting pheasants. We could have inadvertently wandered into the shoot!!
After our lovely walk we went to the cafe and had a scrummy lunch - chilli con carne for me and devil's food mushroom soup for Mrs C.
Sitting in the old dairy and seeing old photos of the Marlborough family and  the servants was almost more than I could stand after watching Downton Abbey every night for a week!
I want to live in a big house in the 1900s!
Upstairs obviously!!
