Grey Plover
We'd arranged to go birding with a couple of friends this morning, but the rain didn't make that seem likely as we set out. Musselburgh was no better, but we braved the rain and cold to watch the waders at the mouth of the river as the tide was going out, and we were rewarded with a good variety of birds including this grey plover. A short eared owl, velvet scoter and a long tailed duck were also unusual sightings for us.
The rain stopped after we were out for an hour, but bins, 'scope etc. all got a good soaking, so the evening was spent drying it all out
