Nothin' but blue skies... (Yard Bird # 14)

Who better than the irrepressible Tufted Titmouse to help me celebrate the most excellent news from the amazing folks at BlipFuture!  And what better song to accompany the news than the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald's Nothing but Blue Skies.  If you haven't read the latest news from BlipCentral, please hop over and have a look - in short, it looks like our wonderful Blipfoto community is going to continue to be a place for us to share our moments, both big and little.  

It is so freaking cold out today!  Temps about 22 F but very windy bringing the windchill to about 10 F.  I wasn't able to muster more than about 15 minutes at a time outside.  Lucky for the birds, they all have their down coats to keep them warm - and lots of high-protein seeds and suet.  I debated between a titmouse or a downy woodpecker for today's blip, but opted for the titmouse mainly because I loved the way the blue winter sky looked.  No edits needed on this other than a crop.  

Planning to head out one day this week with a friend to see if we can find a  Great Horned Owl that's been seen about an hour from here.  Haven't seen one since I left FL!  

Spotted an American Tree Sparrow in the yard today but wasn't quick enough with the camera to get a shot - darn it.  But, if the cold temps continue and the promised snow comes this weekend, my odds of seeing another one are pretty good.  Nice yard bird to add to the list...
