The Wheelwright's Apprentice.

We are lucky to have a traditional wheelwright in our wee town (and a royal warrantholder to boot) Here the apprentice is shrinking the metal rim on to a newly crafted wheel. A dramatic procedure involving fire and water, truly elemental. It is so lovely to see these old crafts still carried on. We also have the only remaining oak bark tannery in the country, but that's for another day.
My extra pic is my glamorous mother who would have been ninety-nine today. The world has less sparkle without her.
