Too cold for ducks

We went for a walk while the snow was still lying on the ground but it was too warm and the anticipated crisp icy paths were really muddy.  The snow had largely melted by the time we got back to the car 2 hours later but the pond was still frozen.  We went to find 13 geocaches instead of going orienteering in Epping Forest, which is one of my favourite orienteering areas in the SE, but we couldn't be bothered to travel to Essex;  not knowing what the weather was going to do.
