Blipping Freezing

It was flippin freezing this morning. A long lie was called for. My mind was in overdrive all week, I had travelled quite a lot and had non-stop meetings. Radio 4 in bed on a Saturday morning was the ideal solution.

Then it was off to Ingliston to do some coaching stuff. I was gonna cycle but I have an ice phobia and decided a train-tram journey was better. It also gave me the time to read a whole MSc. Dissertation. I decided to get off the tram at the airport rather than the previous stop; however, that proved to be a major faux-pas! I didn’t know that it was a special zone and the man at the barrier refused me exit unless I paid a fortune! I got back on the tram, it didn’t move for 15 minutes. I had wasted 25 minutes and still had a slightly longer walk to the cycling circuit.

On arrival, there was more misfortune! Because of ice, they had swapped the timetable around and the bit I was there for had happened at 9am! Hey….hum.  A slightly wasted journey but at least it had got me out the house.

I decided to go for a coffee at Wellington on the way home, but again disaster! There were no seats and I refuse to have takeaway as it is a sin to drink the best espresso in a paper cup. China is needed. I decided to walk home from town to get a little more exercise.

After lunch, we headed off to see Star Wars at the cinema. I was so excited and wasn’t disappointed. It was a surreal experience. The characters were almost real. I was almost moved to tears when Chewbacca appeared and was devastated when Han Solo was light-sabred. I had seen the original film in 1977 with my best friends at the time, Eggis and Chris. My excitement as a 40 something bloke was no different to when I was 6 years old. It was awesome and brought back so many childhood memories.
