Tarn Hows and our need for stories.

Low level day today before the trip home. BTW that flat white stuff is a frozen and snowed on Tarn Hows.

Given the stretch until our next holiday, I recognised the need for a break, attempts to get a week away were thwarted by L and my work holiday calendars not dancing to the same tune. We managed this long weekend though. Something about the extra day added on to the weekend, the beauty of the Lake District, the snow, the effort of longish days on the fells. Disconnecting and reconnecting. It feels like a much longer break and I'm recharged. I'm also reminding myself before heading back to work, that whilst I can do fast and furious, this isn't the same as good and best. Our hours and days and not just our weeks and months need a pause or two to remind ourselves to be present and connect with a deeper source.

On another not entirely disconnected track, I read this in the often trite void that is my Facebook feed and I liked it.

And it's a human need to be told stories. The more we're governed by idiots and have no control over our destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we come from, and what might be possible

Maybe this is one of the strands that draws us to blipfoto.
