Snowy View from The Roaches
We were determined to enjoy the first snow of winter, so we headed up to a local spot where we knew we wouldn't be disappointed.
The Roaches is an outcrop of rocks (Gritstone to be exact), just outside Leek, but just inside the Peak District National Park border, on it's south eastern edge. It's well known amongst the climbing fraternity, and there were even several groups here today, "bouldering" on the lower slopes. Even blipfutures post today features a view from the Roaches.
It was great to catch a bit of sunlight too, which gave me some gorgeous muted light for photography. We did a 4 hour walk, then had lunch at the Roaches Tearoom. Smashing!
There's a couple more in the extras, including a shot of Doxey Pool, and a view looking across towards Buxton and the notorious A53. Both always get cut off when there's snow. It was just one of those days when it's hard to choose just one photo.
