Charging
As I mentioned in yesterday's Blip, the BCLM have misplaced the battery charger for the Olympus E500, so I ordered another one, and it and two batteries arrived today. I immediately charged the batteries, and I just have to take them down there - probably early in the week.
I spent most of the days trying, and failing, once again to try to find a way to use the same library file on both the Mac and PC. I use referenced files, and the database embeds the full path names, and of course path names are very different between Mac and PC. I tried all sorts of trick, including mounting the drive via a folder on the PC, and even using HexEdit to globally change the contents of the file. This naming in the library causes problems if you want to move some of the photos to another drive as well, and the Locate command just doesn't seem to work properly. Managed files are no solution for me, as apart from my extreme reluctance to let an application actually look after my data in its own file system, I have far too many photos to handle that way.
After all this I really did not feel too well, and was cold and shivery, so I retired to bed at 18:30 with a hot water bottle, but got very little sleep. At about 02:00 I realised I hadn't posted the Blip, so I'm doing it now on Sunday.
