Knobbly tree

No lie in this morning. The garage were able at very short notice to save me from further hand lacerations, but in return I had to have the car there first thing. This means that last night's binge watching of Homeland should probably have finished earlier...

Also, it was freezing this morning - not a great day to have a few hours to kill out and about. I hid in the library to warm up, then took advantage of the market being quiet to get the shopping done. With the car all sorted, back to the house to hibernate until Monday!

Tonight I planned dinner around a rather tasty bottle of wine some pals brought us in October. Venison Wellington with Dauphinoise potatoes, Drambuie-flamed squash and veg. Yum. At the end of dinner an error came to light... TallGirl has a Spanish exchange this year, but hadn't given me the dates for her friend coming here. Turns out I am due to be on a girls weekend in Paris for part of the time... I can't decide if that's ok or not. Any views? Seems like a big responsibility having someone else's kid in your house, and swanning of for some fun is not ideal...
