Skimmer

We awoke to a sunny warm day, and went for a morning drive ON the beach! I have never done that before, and it was great to be able to bird from the comfort of our car. And it was even better to be squired by my sister in law who is a professional bird guide!!
This is a Skimmer. It feeds by skimming over the water and scooping up food with its elongated lower mandible. It was such a treat to get so close.
