Baking
Today, I've been baking and cooking, in readiness for very special visitors, tomorrow brings a little more cooking, but it's pretty much done.
I took the chocolate cake mix to Dirk for him to sample before washing the bowl up - and he gave some of it to the boy. Who obviously loved it, given the sweetest thing he's had until what shall be called 'the chocolate cake moment' is a sultana. I don't think we've completely ruined his diet, and he did love it.
We had a lovely evening last night with friends. I foolishly said that Alex has been sleeping through the night since the beginning of December, which of course meant that he kept us up half the night. This was after he rolled off the bed as I about to give him his evening bottle, which of course meant a middle of the night panic that I'd hurt him somehow. He's fine and the tears abated pretty much as soon as he had his bottle. He did then today hit his face on a concrete step (this one wasn't on my watch, thankfully). He's pretty tough, I'll give him that.
The (part time) maid has been busy cleaning today in readiness for our guests - the pictures have all been dusted and Dirk has instructions to dust the living room light shade. My father in law has decreed that nothing should be done before their arrival as it suggests that the house could be better normally. Personally, their arrival is a god-send as it's reaching area's previously un-touched by a duster.
