by rights this should be a photo of the world's most famous opera house but modern sydney is full of under-the-harbour tunnels so you go underground on the south side and pop up on the north with only a vague rear view of the harbour bridge to make you realise you've arrived.
so this is my friend's house.
so i landed, ate fruit salad at the airport, saw a woman with huge fake breasts and odd botoxed lips who it was hard not to stare at, and caught a taxi driven by a chatty italian man who i massively over tipped. arrived at my friend's and went next door to get the keys, they made me tea and tried to sell me their house and asked how come i'd got a visa. back to unpack and to force myself to stay awake - allowed myself 2 hours kip but triumphed by staying up til 9 when i passed out until morning. a triumph of jet laggery.
biggest thrill was going through passport control - had my visa stamped and grinned at the chappie. that's me. i'm an aussie.
