Winter has arrived
The forecast was good and the prospect of a day's hillwalking in the snow was too difficult to resist. We went down to Broughton with the intention of going up Broughton Heights and Trahenna Hill. We parked at Broughton Place and walked up the track, which despite the frost was very wet in places. It wasn't helped by recent diggings from a JCB that was working away. We reached the snow at about 350 metres and all looked great. However as went up the ridge to Broughton Heights we realised that the snow was knee deep in places, and had a breakable crust that made progress slow. This is the view to the top from Green Law. We didn;t go up Trahenna as that looked a flog in heather in snow; one for another day. The extra is a blip of the rime on the fence,
