Lake Tekapo

Cooler and more overcast as we drove from Akaroa inland to Lake Tekapo. The surrounding countryside peaceful and interesting with gently rolling hills which climbed steadily as we headed inland on quiet but slow roads. The grasslands looked dry and in need of rain which tried hard to oblige throughout the day, but it wasn’t until we reached Lake Tekapo that it eventually rained. By then we were installed in our lakeside cabin and contemplating a walk in to the town and dinner. At last a use for our waterproofs.
