Contrasts

Friday 15th Jan 2016 (1238)

I had decided to start early and do a 5 mile walk to plan one for the next walking group. It was hard work getting up. When I looked out I saw sunshine and beautiful blue sky and the forecast was no rain until late afternoon. I quickly planned the walk on the map and then set off.

When I got outside I realised the sun was deceptive. There was a light covering of snow and frost on the ground. Ten minutes into the walk I could see a storm approaching from the direction I was going. When it hit it was an icy cold wind with a bit of sleet. It wasn't pleasant and underfoot was either icy and slippy or extremely muddy. I decided to cut the walk in half and head back. The storm passed quickly and the blue sky returned but it was bitterly cold. The 2.5 miles I did was ok but it was nice to get back home.

The sky shows the real contrasts that can be around - darkness and light.

Thanks for sending yesterday's poppies to the popular page.
