Seeking Shelter

Day three of my holiday in Kaiteriteri was a little more relaxed. Ricky and I packed up a picnic lunch, our swimming gear, beach chairs and beach umbrella and headed off on foot out of the motor camp and along the road and up over the hill and finally down the track to Breaker Bay. There were folk all over the golden sands and in and out of the water. We enjoyed a good swim before lunch and Ricky went in for further swims later. This evening Ricky, I and Matt Croad (another Camera Club member who is camping here as well) drove over the hills to the special carpark for Split Apple Rock beach. We carried our camera gear down a long, steep but well maintained track through the bush to Split Apple Rock Bay, There we had a great time on the virtually deserted beach capturing the late light, seascapes, birds, sand formations and the like. A small yacht sailed around the bluff into the bay and anchored for the night. It's owner was anxious about predicted bad weather and had sought shelter near Split Apple Rock. It was great material for a blip.
We finished off the night by driving to the famous Park Cafe in Marahau for a late meal of lovely pizzas. It was a most satisfying day.
