Jonah and Walnuts

We were served walnuts tonight on a visit - they were delicious! It was an interesting visit. We got to read Jonah to everyone and because half of them are from Nineveh (well , its replacement) it really resonated with them. It's exciting having an OT book translated at last. Jonah's Mosque was actually right next to where they used to live but it got blown up last year.

The TV was full of images of fighting and rescue by soldiers. We are so much more sensitive to these images than them. There's no BBC-style 'disturbing images' warnings. It's sometimes hard to know what to do with the children watching. Sometimes all we can do is pray for protection for them. I sat and listened to a lady describe to me in graphic detail some of the terrible things she'd seen in her city at the hands of terrorists. It's incredible what people have lived through.
