The Seahorse Inn

I accompanied my friend to help her sort out buying a new car, so she very kindly treated me to lunch (albeit, a very late lunch!) here, at the oldest public house ,in the pretty village of Shalford, Surrey.
I didn't take many photos today and this is the best of a very small bunch!
It is uncertain as to why it is called The Seahorse but one legend says that it used to be called The Mermaid, to attract seafarers to stop on their journey from London to Portsmouth, maybe? But why it was changed to The Seahorse???
