Moonie not Banksy
When l taught in Bradford l often caught the bus from my school to go into Bradford City Centre so l could catch the train home.
One day about a couple of years ago a new sight greeted me on the familiar journey...
This beautiful archway is all that is left from a fine building the was levelled about fifty years ago to make a carpark.
The archway was bricked up and not even used as an entrance.
Then about two years ago l saw Samson pushing against the key pillars of a temple just as he had been depicted in the Old Testament when he drove out the Phillistines.
I found out that an action group in the regenerated area known as Little Germany had put out the plea for local artists to submit ideas for the archway.
A suggestion came forward by an artist who prefers to remain anonymous but he goes under the name of Moonie.
The result was this fabulous mural. I crane my neck every time l pass it.
For locals who haven't seen it you can locate it on Church Bank opposite the Cathedral.
