The kids came around to wish Tessa a happy birthday - instead they were introduced to The Viewmaster.

It's somehow gratifying that kids from the DS & XBox Generation still want to take a look through the binocular lens to see the streets of West Berlin and Manhattan, as well as the flamingoes of Florida bathed in the lost colours of yesteryear and brought to life. That a toy thought of as a relic from a bygone age and a lost childhood, still has the power to enthrall, is something that is quite wonderful.

It is, after all, their first time machine.
